About the Data

Hydrologic Unit Codes (HUCs) are used to identify areas of land that drain to a common outflow point (also known as watersheds). The US Geological Survey uses a 6-level nested system of HUCs. This application includes HUC 12 subwatersheds that overlap with the Massachusetts-Rhode Island Coastal Subregion.* The land cover data comes from the Sentinel-2 global LULC map for the year 2023.

*This application was developed without a paid subscription to any ESRI services. It only uses data published in the ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World and only includes subwatersheds that do not exceed the maximum area for requests set by the land cover service provider.
